Carmichael is a 22 year old Australian song writer, artist and musician from Brisbane.who is rapidly making a name for himself in the Australian music scene. His Latest single, ‘Someone To Love’ reached number 23 in the ARIA CLUB charts and in addition to his engaging live performances, Stephen has over 300,000 views on YouTube, has been featured on the front cover of the Brisbane ‘MX’ newspaper twice, topped the Triple J Dance and Pop Charts, won a mashable.com cover competition and has even been featured on Britney Spears’ website.
His single release ‘Falling For You’ was received well by the Australian music industry. It was released as an EP alongside various remixes from both local and international DJ’s. This record topped the Triple J Pop Charts and received a Highly Commended in the Queensland Music Awards (QMA) under the electronic/dance category. Carmichael was also nominated for Best Artist of the year for the 2012 Queens Ball Award.
To coincide with this release, in March 2012, Carmichael was featured on the front cover of the ‘MX newspaper’ in Brisbane and his music was published in magazines such as ‘Scene,’ ‘Rave’ and the ‘Raw Ink Magazine.’
Also in 2012, Carmichael was interviewed on Balcony TV Brisbane to coincide with the release of the Alternative Version of ‘Falling For You.’
In March 2011 Carmichael was featured on Britney Spears’ website for his cover of her song ‘Till The World Ends.’ In October 2011 he won first place in the mashable.com youtube cover competition for his rendition of the pop hit “Moves Like Jagger!”
Carmichael draws his influences from growing up listening to Michael Jackson, Daft Punk and David Bowie, and more recently artists such as Lady Gaga, The Cure, and MGMT.
Carmichael is currently in the process of writing his eagerly anticipated first album with the next single to debut in the months to come.
